The article covers the formation problem of the Salair loose deposits, attributed to subaerial loess-like limons of the Elovka Formation. New data on these deposits allow their distinguishing into two members: the lower one is rudaceous, diluvial-proluvial and the upper one is silty-clay, lacustrine-swampy. According to the data studied on fossil fauna, flora and literature sources these deposits were formed in the Late Neopleistocene.

Key words: lacustrine-alluvial deposits, Late Neopleistocene, horizon, gold, tubules, vegetation, bryozoans.
