Regulations on review in the “Geology and Mineral Resources of Siberia” journal
1. General Provisions
1.1. The publication of scientific articles in the “Geology and Mineral Resources of Siberia” journal assumes an obligatory review of manuscripts submitted by authors.
1.2. The present regulations define an order and forms of review, requirements to the list of reviewers, dates and terms of payment of review.
1.3. The Regulations conform to the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) imposed to review institution in the Russian scientific journals.
2. Review Order
2.1. All manuscripts which have come to the editorial office of the journal for the purpose of being published are subject to review. The exception is:
a) Manuscripts of academicians and corresponding members of RAS;
b) Manuscripts specially prepared by request of the editorial staff;
c) Reference and informational materials, reviews, reports, comments and so on.
2.2. The deputy chief editor of the journal makes a decision for reviewing manuscripts and appoints reviewers according to an article's subject as advised by the associate editors or editorial council of the journal. Manuscripts are sent to a reviewer with a cover letter (Appendix 1) on behalf of the editor-in-chief without any indication of an author's name.
2.3. Upon obtaining a manuscript, a reviewer reviews it according to the established form (Appendix 2), being guided by an instruction in Appendix 1.
2.4. In case of a positive review (recommendation to publication), the manuscript is sent for proof.
2.5. In the case that the manuscript is recommended for publication providing it is given another brush, the manuscript and its review may be sent to its author(s) (according to the decision of the editor-in-chief or his deputy).
2.6. In case of a negative review the editorial board has the right to send the article for repeated reviewing to one or several experts.
The editorial staff sends a motivated refusal and the negative review of the manuscript to its author(s).
2.7. Reviewing is confidential:
a) A manuscript is sent to a reviewer without any indication of its author's name;
b) A manuscript is sent to an author without any indication of its reviewer;
c) Derogations from confidentiality are allowed when a reviewer considers it is necessary to address an author personally with specific proposals on his/her article's improvement.
3. Review terms
3.1. A manuscript is sent to be reviewed directly after its delivery to the editorial staff.
3.2. The term of reviewing makes no more than 10 working days from the moment the manuscript is delivered to its reviewer.
3.3. In the case that reviewing requires some more time this term may be increased at the request of the reviewer, but by no more than 5 working days.
