THE RESULTS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC PROSPECTING FOR POLYMETALLIC MINERALIZATION IN VOLCANIC STRUCTURES OF BALUCHISTAN

G. M. Trigubovich, A. P. Dolgushin, A. A. Belaya, I. I. Ivanova

In prospecting for polymetallic mineralization it was set a problem to study a volume structure of orehosting metasomatites at a depth of a few meters down to that of 300–400 meters. EM prospecting was carried out in a profile-areal option with different detail and depth at scales of 1:500 to 1: 10 000. The technology of three-dimensional electromagnetic fixed source (M-TEM, transient electromagnetic sounding) prospecting and electromagnetic scanning in the space-time domain were used. Studies carried out abroad with the modern Russian Impuls-D-type equipment showed high productivity and were in advance of the Russian practice. Therefore they are very relevant in the similar conditions in Russia.

Key words: three-dimensional electric prospecting, M-TEM, areal system of observation, EM-scanning in space-time area, hydrothermal mineralization, metasomatites, volcanic-tectonic caldera.
