The Mogocha-Kariyskiy ore district of the Transbaikalian region has been known as gold-bearing one for more than 150 years. Its geological study confirms that prospects for placer and ore gold are significant here and far from depletion. At the present time, a placer gold mining is carried out by Ksenevskiy and Ust-Karskiy mines and placer miner artels. The further development of the region gold-mining industry is associated mainly with ore deposits, and their exploitation continued in recent years. The established mineral resource base will make it possible to increase significantly this kind of gold mining. Modernization of operating production facilities and development of new ore deposits will form the basis for a large center of gold mining in the region. The paper gives characteristic of the gold ore district as a whole and of single deposits defining potentials for the development of gold mining in the region.
