PROCESSING OF SEISMIC SECTIONS BY DYNAMIC COMPRWSSION METHOD. Pt 1

L. S. Stankevich

The ambiguity of interpretation of seismic sections is mostly caused by an interference of reflected waves and frequency-response curves. These factors limit temporal resolution of a section and, therefore, structural imaging details of complex geological objects. To enhance the temporal resolution by means of a frequency filtration is not often the best decision. It is proposed to consider the dynamic compression method, i.e. the method of seismic section processing realizing a record inverse filtering in the time domain. As a result of this inverse filtering the wave section will be transformed to a field of delta functions which reflects the structure of seismic boundaries and can form a basis for constructing a lithological-physical model of the medium. This part of the paper presents the basis of the method, algorithms and results of the modeling. The next part is to consider the method’s test results obtained at real geologic features and drilling data.

Key words: seismic sections, dynamic compression, inverse filtering, interference, wavetrains, wavelets.
