LITHOLOGICAL-PALEOGEORGAPHIC RECONSTRUCTIONS OF THE NORTHERN EARLY JURASSIC WEST-SIBERIAN PETROLEUM PROVINCE

A set of five lithological-paleogeographic maps was generated based on detailed correlation of the Lower Jurassic deposits at the level of members having a cyclic structure by the litho-cyclo-stratigraphic and biostratigraphic methods and the results of geological, lithofacies, geochemical and paleontological studies. These maps refer to the Zimnyaya (Hettangian-Early Pliensbachian), Levinskoye (Late Pliensbachian), Sharapovka (Late Pliensbachian), Kiterbyut (Early Toarcian), and Nadoyakh (Late Toarcian) ages in the northern part of the West-Siberian petroleum province (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, nearby areas of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Kara Sea basin). There are outwash areas (Polar Urals, Novaya Zemlya, Taymyr, and Siberian Platform) and depositional areas: continental (alluvial coastal plains), intermediate (coastal plains sometimes submerged by the sea), and marine (shallow waters, shallow shelf, deep shelf) sedimentation as well as major and less important sediment migration trends there. For the first time the maps include lithological domains (with a similar material composition of rocks) and predicted present-day thicknesses, which make the paleogeographic reconstructions more reliable.

Key words: alluvial coastal plain; coastal plain sometimes submerged by the sea; shallow waters; shallow, deep shelf.
