UDC (56+57+551.7):061(470+571) THE PALEONTOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF RUSSIA AND ITS PART IN DEVELOPMENT OF GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES (THE 100TH FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY)
In 2016 the All-Russian Paleontological Society celebrates its 100th anniversary. It was founded in Saint-Petersburg in 1916 with the aim to advance paleontological studies in Russia, to develop a standard of monographic research and description of skeletons of organisms that lived in the previous geological epochs including the pre-Cambrian through the Quaternary, to improve theoretical approach to stratigraphy, and substantiate the derived ages of the earths strata. The paper is meant for stratigraphers, paleontologists, geological mapping specialists, professors, postgraduate and undergraduate students of higher education institutions of Russia.
