SHEAR TECTONICS OF THE EARTH’S CRUST IN TRANSBAIKALIA IDENTIFIED FROM REAPAK ATTRIBUTES (SEISMIC PROFILE 1-SB)

D. I. Rudnitskaya, A. S. Salnikov, V. S. Staroseltsev

Seismotectonic analysis of data acquired at regional profile 1-SB surveyed in Transbaikalia was carried out using the REAPAK technology based on computation of dynamic and geometric attributes of the deep section of the earth’s crust. This resulted in identification of a series of deep lithospheric faults with determination of their shear nature. Subvertical suture zones of faulting were identified, together with en echelon disjunctive dislocations, which form typical palm- or flower-like structure characteristic for strike-shift faults. Around the axial fault, there are fractured segments with extension and compression features, as well as typical forms of deep analogues of pull-apart depression structures. The findings can be used to justify prospecting for ore and hydrocarbon fields in Transbaikalia.

Key words: Transbaikalia, seismotectonic analysis, REAPAK technology, disjunctive dislocations, pull-apart structures.
