The article considers features of development of the knowledge economy in the oil and gas sector. The architecture of mathematical model for the generation and transformation of “new” knowledges about hydrocarbon targets into commercial reserves is proposed. Methods of forming the requirements for the desired knowledge are described and a hybrid of the agent-based model with Bayesian networks is suggested to search for conditions for achieving the specified criteria. The applied significance of work is to develop approaches to stimulate the transition of nonprofit natural resources to reserves of recoverable categories.

Keywords: knowledge economy, innovations, new technologies, hard-to-recover reserves, mathematical modeling, agent model, Bayesian network, profitability, commercial reserves.
