The paper considers the application of statistical methods for assessing variations in the taxonomic diversity of belemnites using the example of the Early Cretaceous representatives of the family Cylindroteuthididae from northern Siberia. Global and regional factors influencing the biodiversity dynamics were taken into account. A composite curve of the biodiversity of Ryazanian–Valanginian belemnites in northern Siberia was constructed using the methods of rarefaction and extrapolation of data. Using graphic techniques, the influence of habitat conditions on the predominant morphology of belemnite rostra is shown. Based on indices of similarity and difference, an assessment of the pattern of changes in taxonomic diversity over time was made.

Keywords: biometry, belemnites, biodiversity, Ryazanian, Valanginian, Arctic.
