AREAL STUDIES OF THE QUALITY FACTOR OF THE EARTH’S CRUST IN THE ALTAI-SAYAN FOLDED REGION

The paper is devoted to determining the ground quality (Q) factor in the Altai-Sayan folded region based on 3000 registered events at 21 stations. The present work uses the so-called Coda Normalization Method for evaluation, it was developed and described. The quality factor of the ground is evaluated independently for frequencies 1, 1.5, 3, 6, 12, 24 Hz, while code waves are used to obtain information about focal spectra. Based on the results of all calculations, Q-factor values were obtained for all stations and maps were constructed for the Altai-Sayan folded region. The Q-factor values range from 30 for frequency of 1 Hz to 3000 or more for frequency of 24 Hz. Analyzing the received maps, authors can conclude that the region is strongly heterogeneous in terms of wave attenuation.
