The paper considers the possible use of groundwater for the population water supply of mountain and submontane settlements in certain promising areas based on the application of new method of the reference grid of the Earth planetary faults, reflecting the direction of disjunctive dislocations at regional and local levels. Two sites of increased fracturing which can be considered as potentially promising for groundwater prospecting and organization of geological exploration have been identified within the Kelvasay River drainage basin (Northern Nurata) in the zones of intersection of faults of various directions, according to the universal grid.
Keywords: local groundwater accumulations, mountain massif, hydrogeological model, promising site, universal grid, planetary sublatitudinal, submeridional faults, river topography.
