GEOTHERMAL REGIME OF THE NORTHERN AND ARCTIC REGIONS OF THE WEST SIBERIAN SEDIMENTARY BASIN

Results of the studies into the geothermal conditions of the oil-and-gas bearing deposits in the northern and Arctic regions of the West Siberian sedimentary basin are presented. A regular increase in the formational temperatures was established in the direction from the peripheral regions of the basin to the inner regions and with an increase in the depth of the oil-and-gas bearing deposits. The features of the geothermal field and the variation of geothermal parameters have been characterized. Three types of the vertical geothermal zoning were distinguished: the zones of decreased, background and increased geothermal gradients. Three regions with increased thermal flow values above 56 mW/m2 were distinguished: 1) the major part of the North Gydansky mega-flange and the southern extremity of the Paykhoisko-Novozemelsky megamonoclise; the northern part of the Nadym hemisyneclise; the northern part of the Trans-Ural megamonoclise). Also three regions with relatively low thermal flow values less than 44 mW/m2 were distinguished. Enormous role in the distribution of the values of the deep thermal flow belongs to the time of consolidation of separate blocks of the Paleozoic basement.
