This article provides a detailed review of the results of recognition of prospective zones, viz. Krasnoleninsk, Mansi North, Mansi South, Nadym West-South, Nadym East-South, Khantey North and Kaimys North - based on the comprehensive analysis of integrated geological and geophysical materials used for identification of a base well and reference reservoir portraying the hydrocarbon influx interval. A schematic representation of the structure of reservoir zones of the Bazhenov Formation reservoir reflecting its structure types in different parts of the West Siberian petroleum province is proposed. The main issues requiring solutions in the Upper Jurassic - Lower Cretaceous stratigraphy are indicated, one of which is the identification of a number of hypo-stratotypes of the Bazhenov Formation which characterize its section in different parts of the Frolovskaya and Sredneobskaya (Middle Ob) petroleum regions of Western Siberia. The proposed methodical approach consisting in detailed structural characterization of the targeted Bazhenov reservoir section can improve efficiency of geological exploration strategies for the identified petroleum charge zones within the reservoir.
