This paper reports results of a comprehensive investigation of the Dinamitnoye-II gold-polysulfide-quartz deposit located in the southeastern East Sayan Mountains, with the main focus on the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the ore-forming events. The ore occurrence constitutes of quartz-carbonatesulfide veins with a thickness of 0.1 to 0.4 m and a length of up to 35 m with an average content of gold and silver. The research methods used include field geological observations, ore microscopy (mineragraphy), electron microscopy, X-ray fluorescence analysis, and atom emission spectroscopy, as well as determinations of the sulfur isotope composition of sulfides. Ore mineralization is established to be the gold-polysulfide type which formed at temperatures in the range of 270–310 􀇡C. The main ore-forming minerals are sphalerite, galena, and fahlore. Gold mineralization ranks as relatively low-grade (773 ‰) and is associated with major mineral assemblages formed during hydrothermal alteration. The ore occurrence is established to have been formed in two stages which are early (quartz-pyrite) and productive (quartz-polysulfide) stages. The mesothermal origin of the Dinamitnoye-II ore occurrence inferred from its mineralogy and geochemistry, as well as other geological information, positions it as metamorphic hydrothermal (orogenic type) deposit. In practical terms, the research provides new insights into the evolution of gold mineralization in the study region.

Keywords: southeastern part of the Eastern Sayan, gold, mineralogy, Dinamitnoye-II deposit.
